That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, "He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases." This was to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet Isaiah, “He took our infirmities and bore our diseases.” In this way what was spoken by Isaiah the prophet was fulfilled: "He took our weaknesses and carried our diseases." To fulfill what had been said by Isaiah the prophet: “He took away our infirmities and bore our diseases.” That it might be fulfilled that was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “He took our sicknesses Himself, and bore the diseases.” This was to fulfill what was declared by the prophet Isaiah when he said, "It was he who took our illnesses away and removed our diseases." He did this to make come true what the prophet Isaiah had said, "He himself took our sickness and carried away our diseases." So what the prophet Isaiah had said came true: "He took away our weaknesses and removed our diseases." That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases. That it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the prophet Isaias, saying: He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases. So God's promise came true, just as the prophet Isaiah had said, "He healed our diseases and made us well." So that would be fulfilled which was said by Isaiah the Prophet, who said: “He will take our pains and he will bear our sicknesses.” That it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: Himself took our infirmities, and bare our diseases. So that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He Himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases. So that what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled: He himself took our weaknesses and carried our diseases. So that He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” In order to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying, “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” In order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES, AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” This was to fulfill what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet: “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR INFIRMITIES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” This happened so that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled: “HE HIMSELF TOOK OUR ILLNESSES AND CARRIED AWAY OUR DISEASES.” That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “ He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.” That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. So that it might be fulfilled that having been spoken through the prophet Isaiah, saying, "He Himself took our infirmities, and bore our diseases." This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took on our infirmities and carried our diseases.” This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.” This fulfilled the word of the Lord through the prophet Isaiah, who said, “He took our sicknesses and removed our diseases.” This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: “He took up our infirmities and bore our diseases.”

I can only credit this to the sophistication of the original Acqua di Giò DNA holding up even when transported into this strange new context and strengthened several times over.īut then again, perhaps it’s the inclusion of the intriguing new (captive, which is to say, proprietary) Aquozone molecule that makes this a much cleaner and easier-to-digest salty scent than many others. Somehow, even concentrated several times over, it preserves its shape and avoids dissolving into a metallic briny mess. This is a fascinating salt note, intriguing rather than chilling. Miraculously, it all but almost entirely avoids the metallic effect that marine notes can sometimes have, successfully siloing the saltiness in the realm of seawater rather than that of blood or the inside of a dryer. Perhaps the salt is drawn out by all the other contrasting deep and heavy notes it makes sense that, like every other facet of Acqua di Giò, the marine notes have been concentrated several times over. The sea notes here feel much saltier to me than in the original. The marine heart of the original is here, and it is pleasant, albeit exaggerated to match the swaggering contours of everything else. This is one of the more interesting and distinct sporty blue scents out there, so if you like that sort of thing and aren’t opposed to salt, Profondo is for you. Still, unlike some similar blue gym scents, that freshness in Profondo manages to convey actual notes: the aromatics of the original are still here, along with a heavy dose of innovative new sea notes. It’s fresh in that intense, moody, hefty way that sporty flankers in indigo-to-charcoal bottles often are. This is a fresh but not refreshing twist on the original that turns the sea notes and aquatic and marine accords way up, turning the 90s classic into a 2000s deodorant-and-locker-rooms, beast-mode-gym-bro blue fragrance. This is one in a long line of modern bright blue fragrances that are loud, disdainful, and rife for post-workout over-spraying, only slightly better put together than many of its peers. Gone are the subtlety, the carefully constructed pyramid of notes, everything but the central marine DNA of the original. Passably pleasant and utterly uninteresting, this is the 2000s sporty frat boy reincarnation of the original Acqua di Giò. I am here for it, and I was sick and tired of a behemoth not actually doing everything that it needed to offer a more compelling product to its consumers. Thus, this generation was always going to be one where they needed to bridge the gap, line their ducks and get to a situation where they can better compete in future. Microsoft knows better than most that they needed to keep investing at a time when Sony was interested in simply denying access. Console alone is not big enough to satiate these companies, and as such they needed to go out of their comfort zone. Microsoft was never going to get anywhere doing the same things that Sony was doing, and Sony too was never going to simply get by doing what they were doing for the longest time. The industry is changing, and there needs to be a change in how we view market dynamics. There was a time when this topic was essentially people just taking any small development against the deal to mean that it would not go through and some almost drowned any person that had a common sense approach to these things. Microsoft have the motivation (placate regulators and potentially bring in more returns from F2P, grow their reputation as a content channel / publisher / subscription provider) and they have the first party security to bankroll ports, they have the streaming infrastructure to offer games on weaker hardware right away - basically, it's just easier for them to justify than it is for Activision alone.Ĭlick to shrink. Why is this line always put up? Like seriously? You only have to look how quickly they abandon platforms when the going gets tough. Third party publishers are risk averse because they don't have the resources and security that first parties have. He professed regret on the stand about missing the boat on Switch, but I think if anything that means Activision may have taken Nintendo more seriously with their next console, not this one as well. Just on this one, Kotick is answerable to ABK shareholders and the board - which would have had to be sold on buying a whole bunch of dev kits and putting in the R&D to make Switch games this late in the Switch's lifecycle. Especially not while Lina Khan is being grilled in front of Congress this week and they've already seemingly moved onto their next target (Amazon and Prime subscriptions). With CMA now at the negotiating table, I can't see the FTC wasting time with an appeal. Two days to try and make a convincing argument that Corley ignored or misinterpreted law rising to the need of a stay. They basically have two days to craft an appeal because it would need to be on the docket before Friday. Corley closed the door on multiple avenues of appeal and has made it very difficult for them to argue to another judge that her decision was so fundamentally flawed that it needs an appeal, let alone a stay. It's more likely they will end up doing the exact same thing here, especially in reading the entire decision, albeit redacted, available publicly. Not only did they decide NOT to appeal, they ultimately decided to walk away from the entire thing, cancelling the administrative hearing outright. They were denied the PI in the Meta case. In the Meta case, they asked for a PI pending the full administrative hearing ditto the Microsoft case. In this case their only argument was Microsoft buying ABK would make gaming less competitive. In that case their core argument was that Meta buying Within would make VR less competitive. One need only look back at their Meta-Within case which was very similar. It does not store any personal data. The "FTC will appeal" rumor is based off a single source that literally no other outlet is reporting or confirming. Their new translation of The Adventures of Pinocchio, published in 2021, includes copious notes and an introduction exploring the story’s complexities. “The beauty of the language, the literary inventiveness of Collodi-he does things I’ve never seen any author do,” says Hooper. She made the case to John Hooper, a British journalist and the author of a 2015 book called The Italians, that it was time for a new English translation. “I couldn’t believe how rich the text is,” says Kraczyna, who was born in Italy to American expatriate artist parents. The business went in a dramatic new direction when he started crafting Pinocchio toys in 1981.Īnna Kraczyna, a university lecturer in Florence, was astonished by the narrative about 15 years ago when she was reading the book to her young son. Shop owner Francesco Bartolucci was born into a family of woodcarvers. “These students will say, ‘I don’t really read a lot, and I don’t typically enjoy books, but I really enjoyed Pinocchio.’”Ī revelatory new annotated edition of the most translated Italian book in the world Buy The first reaction is “such surprise at how different it is from the Disney version-and how much they prefer the original version.” The second reaction is from students who find the book more complex than they’d expected. “Every time I teach Pinocchio to American undergraduates, I get at least two reactions,” says Maria Truglio, a professor of Italian and women’s, gender and sexuality studies at Penn State, and the author of Italian Children’s Literature and National Identity: Childhood, Melancholy, Modernity. His antics lead to poor Geppetto’s arrest. The moment Geppetto carves him out of the miraculous block of wood, Pinocchio runs away and refuses to go home. He’s a scamp, a brat, a kid who, as we might say today, makes a lot of poor choices. Yes, Pinocchio tells lies, but that’s just part of his general misbehavior he’s selfish and unreliable. But the original Italian story is not primarily about lying. For most Americans, Pinocchio is synonymous with the 1940 animated Disney movie about a wooden puppet whose pointy nose grows every time he tells a lie. Disney and Netflix are both in the process of producing new versions. The Adventures of Pinocchio has been adapted for film 18 times, including two live-action movies starring Roberto Benigni. That piece of wood, of course, became Pinocchio, and the story became the first internationally known work of Italian children’s literature. The native of Florence is the daughter of American artists who relocated Once upon a time there was.a piece of wood.”Īnna Kraczyna is co-translator of the new English edition of Pinocchio. “A king!” my little readers will no doubt say in a flash. Its opening paragraph was meant to undermine the traditional idea of a fairy tale-and also to send a political message: The Story of a Puppet first appeared in serial form, starting in 1881, in Giornale per i bambini, the Children’s Newspaper. He wrote political essays and satire for adults, and then, in his 50s, turned his attention to children. In the first half of the 19th century, a young boy named Carlo Lorenzini, originally from Florence, spent stretches of his childhood living here with relatives, and later, when he became a writer, he took Carlo Collodi as his pen name. It is probably fair to say they were tired. It’s hard to know what these laborers were thinking as they trudged back up the hill after a long day of working at the villa. It is where the working-class people lived, the ones who tended the nobility’s villa and gardens. The town is older than the villa and was probably originally built on the hilltop for purposes of strategic defense. Ascending its precipitously steep cobblestone main street, you come to a small piazza with communal sinks for laundry. Walk through the tunnel under the villa and follow the path up the hill, and the stone houses of Collodi speak to a very different reality. The garden, built as a kind of fantasy pleasure park for the Garzoni family and their noble guests, offers terraces, flower beds, grand staircases, splashing fountains and antique marble statues surrounding the Baroque villa. The town of Collodi, Italy, about 45 miles west of Florence, is set on a slope behind a fabulous 17th-century villa. On the flip side, if you are new to shortcuts, having to learn them all might take a big chunk of your time. Each item on the toolbar that supports hotkeys will have the combination displayed on the same row. On top of that, shortcuts and hotkeys can be employed at will and not too much different from the default Explorer ones. However, investing a couple of minutes into it will reveal an intricate application that provides the user with tabbed browsing, a new and improved file search feature, tons of customization options, and automatic tasks, together with superior response times. XYplorer may look like a shrunken version of the basic one. Also, your Windows registry will not be affected. It’s fast and light, it’s innovative, and it’s portable. It features tabbed browsing, a powerful file search, a versatile preview, a highly customizable interface, an optional dual-pane, and a large array of unique ways to efficiently automate frequently recurring tasks. It is safe to pass around, because it is not a virus, and does not include any fragments of viral code. This test file has been provided to EICAR for distribution as the „EICAR Standard Anti-Virus Test File“, and it satisfies all the criteria listed above. A number of anti-virus researchers have already worked together to produce a file that their (and many other) products „detect“ as if it were a virus.Īgreeing on one file for such purposes simplifies matters for users: in the past, most vendors had their own pseudo-viral test files which their product would react to, but which other products would ignore. The good news is that such a test file already exists. Also, because you probably want to avoid shipping a pseudo-viral file along with your anti-virus product, your test file should be short and simple, so that your customers can easily create copies of it for themselves. If your test file is a program, then it should also produce sensible results if it is executed. Since it is unacceptable for you to send out real viruses for test or demonstration purposes, you need a file that can safely be passed around and which is obviously non-viral, but which your anti-virus software will react to as if it were a virus. Such a test will give meaningful results, but with unappealing, unacceptable risks. Using real viruses for testing in the real world is rather like setting fire to the dustbin in your office to see whether the smoke detector is working. You use (or should use!) a secure, controlled and independent laboratory environment within which your virus collection is maintained. However, you do not (or should not!) perform your tests in a „real“ environment. If you are an anti-virus vendor, then you do this (or should do it!) before every release of your product, in order to ensure that it really works. Obviously, there is considerable intellectual justification for testing anti-virus software against real viruses. Your best response to a request from an unknown person is simply to decline politely.Ī third set of requests come from exactly the people you might think would be least likely to want viruses „users of anti-virus software“. They want some way of checking that they have deployed their software correctly, or of deliberately generating a „virus incident in order to test their corporate procedures, or of showing others in the organisation what they would see if they were hit by a virus“. There are relatively few laws (though some countries do have them) preventing the secure exchange of viruses between consenting individuals, though it is clearly irresponsible for you simply to make viruses available to anyone who asks. Other requests come from people you have never heard from before. Using strong encryption, you can send them what they have asked for by almost any medium (including across the Internet) without any real risk. Some requests are easy to deal with: they come from fellow-researchers whom you know well, and whom you trust. If you are active in the anti-virus research field, then you will regularly receive requests for virus samples. These cost $150 and do not require any kind of subscription. I should mention that Microsoft also has stand-alone versions of Office for Windows and Mac known as Home and Student 2021. The good part about paying for the subscription is that it can be shared across family members and devices. But the subscription costs can be out of reach for many with prices ranging between $70 and $100 per year. Paying for a Microsoft 365 subscription is the most popular and convenient means to access the office suite. We will delve into all those conditions in a moment. The catch here is that the free access to Microsoft Word, Excel, and the rest comes with some caveats. Yeah, they are free but there is always a catch. The good news is that you can now access part of the Microsoft 365 suite for free, that is Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Office 365 is what was rebranded to Microsoft 365. You still had to pay a subscription fee to access the suite. Fast forward to mid-2011 when Office 365 was launched and the case was the same. For the most part, you had to purchase Microsoft Office separately from Microsoft Windows, and that has not changed. For close to three decades, Microsoft’s Office suite has been the go-to productivity tool for professionals, students, and even amateurs at home. These are the first of the platonic solids and with four triangular sides, the sides sit flat no matter what meaning that structure and stability become unshakable forces. Made up of tetrahedrons, we see straight away that the Merkaba star pulls together themes of balance and stability. It is a star tetrahedron and with its geometric shapes spinning in opposite directions, it has the power to create a perfectly unionized and balanced energy field. It looks like a three-dimensional version of the Star of David. The history of the Merkaba is a strong symbol in Judaism and has roots in the Torah, but it’s also connected to sacred geometry. But as the Chaddissic Jewish people believe that the Merkaba is a symbol of contemplating how to be a better person, this is something that flows into the beauty of spirituality and shares weight with the ideas behind sacred geometry too. As you can see, the Merkaba has both religious and spiritual connotations attached to it. The word Merkaba is actually believed to be an Egyptian word (broken down into the three parts of Mer, Ka, and Ba). Scholars say that the throne or chariot isn’t to be taken literally but more refers to how god and his archangels are revealed in this world. The term Merkabah (also known as Merkavah) actually relates to the chariot of the throne of God in Ezekiel's vision. While the word itself may not appear explicitly, the word chariot appears numerous times and Merkaba means chariot. The word Merkaba is a Hebrew word and is associated with the Hebrew Bible text from Ezekiel 1.4-26. The Merkaba has a long and complex history. It’s impossible to capture all of this depth and scope in a fleeting paragraph, but we will do our best to offer a brief insight into the spiritual healing of this star of sacred geometry. Since ancient times, people have been unraveling the mysteries and meaning of the Merkaba. The Merkaba is believed to be a divine vehicle for keeping you balanced. This three-dimensional star has eight points and it takes its name from Mer for light, Ka for spirit, and Ba for the body. So much more than the simple shape of a star, the Merkaba holds deep spiritual meaning. The wagon's sloping B-pillar - clearly evocative of the 1955-1957 Nomad - was also adapted for the El Camino. Essentially, the long rear-quarter panels of the two-door wagon formed the exterior sides of the six-foot El Camino cargo box. Photographs from the design studio indicate that the basic styling and much of the detail had been worked out by autumn 1962.Īs with the original El Camino, the cab and pickup box of the new truck were built into an integrated assembly. The El Camino's unique attributes were designed in a special GM Styling studio that handled station wagon development. Although he did not "father" the Chevelle, Knudsen would proudly introduce it to the automotive press several months before the public introduction. The Chevelle would be the division's fifth car line, joining the regular Chevrolet, Corvair, Chevy II, and Corvette in Chevrolet showrooms. He was about to lead Chevrolet into some of its most exciting and successful years as well. Knudsen, a car guy in every sense, had made stodgy Pontiac into a stellar performer, style leader, and stunning sales success starting in the late Fifties. "Bunkie" Knudsen replaced Ed Cole as Chevrolet's general manager in late 1961. Thus, the 1964 El Camino was apparently a work in progress by the time Semon E. Even so, after many meetings, the decision was made to build the new El Camino on the forthcoming Chevrolet intermediate platform. The only problem was timing: For three model years, Ford would have the passenger-car-pickup field all to itself. And the new full-perimeter-frame chassis could add the durability an El Camino needed. The robust and proven Chevrolet powertrains to be offered in the new car would contribute the power. A two-door station wagon was already proposed for the new-car line such a vehicle could contribute structure and even body panels to an El Camino. Subsequent evaluation determined that the Chevy II wasn't really suited to becoming a truck.īy early 1961, the team had begun to focus on the 1964 Chevrolet "intermediate" then under development. Skowronski recalls that a Chevy II wagon prototype was modified into a pickup. The team next turned to the soon-to-be introduced Chevy II compact, which would be built on a conventional rear-drive chassis. Called the Trailblazer - a name that would return at Chevrolet decades later - it quickly came to naught. (Besides, Ford also had a more direct competitor for the Rampside in the Econoline.) The dealers wanted another El Camino.Īccording to Skowronski, the planning team initially flirted with a somewhat El Camino-like concept featuring dual Corvair engines. The short-term solution offered by Chevrolet - the 1961 Corvair Rampside pickup, with its rear engine and bi-level load floor - was simply too different to compete against the small, but thoroughly conventional, Ford. They were also aware, of course, that Ford was still very much in the game with the new compact Ranchero, which was selling well. They had liked the extra sales provided by the half car/half truck. Some Chevrolet dealers were disappointed with the El Camino being dropped for 1961. Skowronski's very first assignment: help Chevrolet Truck Sales Manager James Conlon and his product planners research a replacement for the 1960 El Camino. When Eugene "Geno" Skowronski reported to work at Campbell-Ewald Advertising, Chevrolet's ad agency, on September 8, 1960, it was the start of a career that would span more than three decades and include dozens of new-vehicle introductions. However, your author did locate a member of the original concept team who well remembers the story of how the intermediate El Camino came to be. The exact chronology of events and who did what to bring the El Camino revival to market have become murky with the passage of time. However, when Chevrolet unveiled a new El Camino in 1964, Ford was immediately put on the defensive. The Falcon Ranchero consistently rang up around 20,000 sales per model year from 1960 to 1963. Meanwhile, Ford was busy transforming the Ranchero into a much smaller offering based on its new-for-1960 Falcon compact. Chevrolet responded with its like-sized El Camino in '59, but would build it that way for only two model years. See more pictures of Chevrolet cars.įord, of course, had fired the first round in the sedan-pickup battle with its Ranchero, built from 1957 to 1959 on the full-size Ford platform. The 1965 El Camino combined the moderate size of a car with the performance of a truck.
